Biomedicum Helsinki High Throughput Centers

Biomedicum Helsinki High Throughput Center (HTC), located in Biomedicum Helsinki 1 P-floor, has been in operation since 2004. It is a self-service facility serving mainly the local research community as a part of Biocentrum Helsinki. The HTC is operated jointly between the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland FIMM and Biomedicum Helsinki. The facility contains equipment to perform screens in a semi-automated manner in 96- and 384-well format.

FIMM is located in Biomedicum Helsinki 2U building 2nd floor and has a fully automated HTC facility which has been in operation since 2010. The system can process more than 100 000 data points in a single day and is suited for both mammalian cell-based and biochemical assays in 96, 384 and 1536-well formats.

Researchers have access to several chemical libraries (in total about 120 000 compounds, including chemical diversity, natural compound, known bioactive and approved drug collections), a cDNA ORFeome library and other screening collections i.e. a genomic siRNA library.

The FIMM Chemical Biology unit staff can consult and assist researchers on various aspects surrounding chemical biology and drug discovery, such as assay development and optimization, as well as advice on screening and drug discovery strategies. We also have a network of chemoinformaticians, medicinal chemists and other drug development experts.
