Manfred Lautenschläger – European Alcohol Research Award

For the second time, the award of 25.000 euros donated by Mr. Manfred Lautenschläger, Heidelberg, Germany, will be granted by ESBRA to a well-established alcohol researcher who has contributed strongly to the understanding of alcohol-related and alcohol-associated diseases or the development of treatment strategies in alcohol-associated diseases. The recipient of the award must have devoted most of his academic and research career to alcohol research. The first European Alcohol Research Award was granted to Professor Mikko Salaspuro at the 11th Congress of ESBRA in Berlin in 2007.

The recipient of the second European Alcohol Research Award was announced by the President of ESBRA, Prof. Dr. Helmut K. Seitz at the opening ceremony. The award was granted to Professor Otto Lesch.
