Welcome!
Coordinator Risto Renkonen.
Mission :
Common theme in this program is to analyse and carry out translational studies on vascular biology and pathology. The final goal is to seek for new methods to treat (either viral gene transfer or drugs) human diseases based on the system level information we have obtained from our analysis. Starting from in vitro wet lab, i.e., viruses, cells, cell lines, tissue biopsies we carry out system level analysis of transcript profiles and protein interaction networks. These observations in vitro will guide the production and analyses of animal models including transgenic and knock-out mice, and vascular surgical manipulations in rats and primates. Finally we will move to human patients and develop methods to analyse the pathogenesis of vascular pathology.
