organized by Sigrid Jusélius Foundation and University of Helsinki.

General information

The Sigrid Jusélius Foundation, a major private foundation in Finland, has sponsored medical symposia since 1965. The present Chairman of the Foundation Medical Board is Dr Krister Höckerstedt.

Next summer, May 31st - June 3rd 2009, the Foundation will arrange its 23rd international symposium entitled "Aging, Neurodegeneration and Mitochondria". This symposium collects together highest-profile scientists from the three research fields, to discuss overlapping molecular mechanisms.

The Chair of the scientific organizing committee is Dr Anu Suomalainen-Wartiovaara, University of Helsinki, the other members being Drs Linda Partridge (University College of London and Max-Planck Institute on Aging), Howy Jacobs, Hans Spelbrink (University of Tampere), Brendan Battersby and Pentti Tienari (University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Central Hospital).

The meeting is closed, participation is based on invitation.
