Women's Health Research Program
Women's Health research program by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Helsinki is one of the six large research programs selected by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki for 2007-2011. This research consortium consists of 5 different research projects, which include several senior scientists and a large number of PhD students. The Director of the research program is Professor Jorma Paavonen, MD. The 5 research projects are: Infection and inflammation, reproduction, ovarian and breast cancer, and Genes and pregnancy. For the first time all research groups from the same large University Hospital Department collaborate in one reserach consortium. This is extremely important and has a major impact on undergraduate and postgraduate training. The Women’s Health research program is also linked to translational research at Biomedicum Helsinki.
