CohortComparator
is a program that compares cancer patients against random individuals.
The program identifies genomic regions that could harbour tumour suppressor genes by assuming
that the patients with an inherited cancer susceptibility may have inherited the same mutation
from both parents and that that kind of event is less common among random samples.
We are also using large SNP data sets to assess the role of the genetic
background in the treatment and the survival of patients with breast cancer.
The survival rates of patients with different genotypes are compared
with one another in different clinical settings and the relevance of the effects
that different genotypes inflict on patient survival is evaluated with
information available in various biomedical databases.
