Research
The Protein Chemistry/Proteomics and Peptide Synthesis and -
Array Unit is devided into six activity areas: 1) We provide Services and Education on basic Protein
Chemistry, Proteomics, Peptide Synthesis and Peptide- and Protein Array
technology.
See also
Courses and seminars. 2) We develop methods and instrumentation for to be used
in modern
Protein Chemistry/Proteomics. This task includes development of
micro-chip based analytical devices for Proteomic research and
diagnosis. 3) We develop methods and instrumentation for to be used
in Peptide- and Protein Array technology. This task includes
development of chip based Arrays of synthetic peptides and purified
proteins for research and diagnosis. 4) We develop nanosurfaces for to be used in biomolecular
analysis and clinical diagnosis. 5) We do research on protein misfolding: As study interests
CADASIL
disease with Notch3 defect, several types of amyloidoses with
hereditary and non-hereditary variants of protein misfolding, and other
model proteins for amyloidogenic and non-amyloidogenic misfolding e.g.
HMG1, SH3, ApoE, cystatins and prions. 6) We do research on viral epitope mapping and
characterization
thereof. In addition we search for new Biomarkers in several clinical
conditions and validate and characterize the lead molecules. We also
conduct Proteomic studies on various diseases and clinical stages
thereof.
