Research at the Service Unit and in the Baumann lab and the Renkonen lab
Research
at the Core Service Facility Meilahti Clinical Proteomics Core Facility Research Activities
are devided into
four activity areas: 1) We provide Services and Education on basic Protein
Chemistry, Clinical Proteomics, Glycoproteomics and Glycan
Analyses, Peptide Synthesis and Peptide- and
Protein Array
technology.
See also
Courses and seminars. 2) We develop methods and instrumentation for to be used
in modern
Protein Chemistry/Proteomics. This task includes development of
micro-chip based analytical devices for Proteomic research and
diagnosis. 3) We develop methods and instrumentation for to be used
in Peptide- and Protein Array technology. This task includes
development of chip based Arrays of synthetic peptides and purified
proteins for research and diagnosis. 4) We develop nanosurfaces for to be used in biomolecular
analysis and clinical diagnosis. In addition we search for new Biomarkers in several clinical
conditions and validate and characterize the lead molecules. We also
conduct Proteomic studies on various diseases and clinical stages
thereof.
In addition to Service linked to the
Core Facility the Head of the Unit Marc
Baumann has his own Research team specialized on Neuroscience,
Protein Misfolding Disorders and Proteomics Related areas. For more Information please visit
the Baumann Lab Site (click

Risto Renkonen has a long lasting career devoted to
Glycoproteomics and Glycomics. and he is in charge for the
Glycoproteomics and Glycomics Analyses of the Service Unit. For more Information please visit the Renkonen Lab Site (click here)
